KCDC

30 year anniversary celebration dance

It was held at King James School Knaresborough where the first meetings were held. They were in the sports hall in the lower part of school and were part of a night
school programme. Music to a cassette player and the tuition given by Bill and Phyl Hardacre.

Later the class was converted into a club and began meeting, as now, in the Scout Hut on Wetherby Road.

The evening in full swing

Dorothy puts the final touches to the food trolley.

Whilst the dancers work up an appetite.

Ian and Dorothy run the dances these days.

Tony Whitehead called the dances - as he has done for many years. Keith managed to be Master of Ceremonies and fit in lots of dances.

A celebration cake.

John and Beryl had the honour of cutting it. They have the longest continuous membership of the club.

Phyl and son Roy joined in the celebrations.

Photographic memories of Bill and Phyl's history were on display.

As was a collection of more modern photos of the dance group. This from 2005 shows Kath and Ken who ran the group's dances for many years.

So the club now moves on to the next season with the first date being the 1st September. The interest in attracting new members is still there and you are encouraged
to publicise the group.

New faces are always welcome.

Carol and John
